A Bloody Kombat?? A Mortal Kombat!!!!!!

In 1992 Midway games launched a revolutionary arcade fighting game: Mortal Kombat

What is it about?

In a mysteriuous island in the chinese seas and unknown for the rest of the world , incredible warriors fight for the destiny of the earth.

This great tournament was known as Mortal Kombat.

1000 years ago a magician called Shang Tsung won the tournament , becoming the Supreme Champion. Shang Tsung can take the souls of the defeated warriors to satisfy the Emperor´s (Shao Kahn) wrath and take their strenght to keep his inmortal youth. This magician must win 10 times the tournament to open de Outworld´s door.

500 years ago, when he was close to cumulate souls enough to Shao Kahn, he was defeated by the great Kung Lao a priest of the light.

But Shang Tsung came back to the tournament as Goro.

Goro, the half dragon , half man

Goro is a fighter half man, half dragon. He´s two meters tall and has 4 arms known as the Prince of Pain. Goro won Kung Lao and for 500 years has remained as Supreme Champion.

Once again , is time for the Shaolin Tournament known as Mortal Kombat confront the biggest fighters of the earth versus the biggest outworld fighters…..AND ONE OF THOSE FIGHTERS IS YOU

Well, The tournament starts and you can choose these powerful fighters:

Kano, Sonya Blade, Sub - Zero (my favourite), Liu Kang, Scorpion, Johnny Cage and Raiden

Select your mortal kombat fighter

You have 2 types of punchs and kicks and fifth button to block the opponent´s hits (something new in fighting games).

The best of Mortal Kombat is its graphics. Movements were recorded by real people , endowing the game an incredible realism very criticized and censored.

Ghosts ´n Goblins a.k.a. Dai Makai-Mura

Well, what an emulation psycho as me could say about one of the best arcade ever?.

It´s not easy, trust me . Let´s start with the boxshot

What can we see?. Demons , zombies , trolls , ghosts, goblins, satan , a princess and SIR ARTHUR. Yeah. Oh Sir Arthur, there are no poems to sing your glory and your thousand of millions of billions of hours of entertainement that you provided us.

Can you remember what happened when you arrived the bar and looked the arcade cabinet?. This:

“Please Deposit Coin” .

Inserting one coin started one of my favourite memories…..

Ghost n Goblins is an arcade launched by CAPCOM in 1985. The arcade was an unexpected success and it became one of the favourite arcades around the world. It was renamed Dai Makai-Mura in Japan with similar success. The ghost n goblins saga went on with the excellent ghouls n ghosts but , in my opinion, it doesn´t have the quality of gng.

But… What makes Ghosts n Goblins so cool?

Obviously graphics were great (we´re talking about 1985), the number of weapons to choose is good and the variety of enemies and its difficulty are perfect. (some people say it´s very hard. I don´t agree). And what else?…

Jump and shoot your knifes , spears, magic shields agains bats, trolls , goblins, vampires and a terryfing world (similar to dungeons and dragons without magic).

One of the best things of Ghost n Goblins is : …., yeah you didn´t expect it, MUSIC

The songs of GNG are incredible the same as its graphics its playability its princess and its eternal entertainment.

Hello Emulation Fans!

Hello, Rom-Gods.net starts with an emulation blog!. Every week we will do a deep review of a classic game. This week and the first game i´ve ever played in a computer is Galactic Plague , The (Amstrad CPC).

I can remember as it happened yesterday. I was eight years old. It was the birthday´s gift. I couldn´t sleep, because i knew that when i woke up i would have in my hands a computer. I didn´t knew the brand of the computer, i didn´t even knew what to do with that bunch of keys and its screen. Finally the dawn opened and I broke the box. It was an Amstrad CPC 464. It ran with cassettes. Only 64k of memory , but a mountain of illusion in a green screen that told me . Ready?. I looked, I should say better, studied the user´s manual, and i learnt my first commands in basic. Obviously, the first thing i wanted to do is playing. I chose Plaga Galactica (in spanish), in english Galactic Plague.It ran perfect. Graphics were not the best and playability was very hard ( i prefer avoid talking about sound) but what the hell…. it was my first videogame!!!!

Galactic Plague or Plaga Galactica was created at the beggining of my beloved CPC so it´s very 80´s.

I love it.
